1962 NASCAR International Rule Book Specifications NASCAR Grand National Championship Circuit Section 20-24 -- Seats

a. Rear seat and rear cushions must be removed. Front seat cushion must be intact and not altered, except backrest must be rigid. Removable cushions must be strapped. Right half of divided back of front seat may be removed.

b. Tracks on all adjustable seats must be bolted or welded solid so seat will not shift or loosen on impact.

c. Bucket seats allowed but must be factory manufactured. Example: Pontiac Bonneville seats in Chev., Olds., Buick, etc. T-Bird seats in Ford, Mercury, etc. Chrysler swivel seats in Plymouth, etc. Chrysler seats must be fastened solid. Positively no homemade seats allowed!
