1974 NASCAR International Stock Car Racing Rule Book
Section 1 -- Membership

1. Any individual interested in automobile stock car racing may become a member of NASCAR by filing an application, agreeing to abide by the NASCAR rules and paying the fee prescribed for membership, provided he meets the required qualifications.

2. NASCAR MEMBERSHIP IS DIVIDED INTO THE FOLLOWING CLASSES:

a. Winston Cup Grand National division.

b. Winston West Grand National division.

c. Other Grand National divisions.

NOTE: Licenses for above divisions will be identified as follows:

(1) Licenses issued to West Coast applicants will be identified as "Grand National West."

(2) Licenses issued to Winston Cup Grand National and other Grand National applicants will be identified as "Grand National."

d. Late Model Sportsman division.

e. Modified division.

f. Limited Sportsman division.

g. Hobby division.

h. Mini-Stock division.

i. Industrial.

j. Car Sponsor.

k. Official.

l. Promoter.

m. Non-competitive (Fan).

3. ANNUAL NASCAR MEMBERSHIP DUES SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS:

a. Winston Cup Grand National, other Grand National (driver, car owner or mechanic)

b. Late Model Sportsman (driver, car owner or mechanic)

c. Modified (driver, car owner or mechanic)

d. Limited Sportsman (driver, car owner or mechanic)

e. Hobby (driver, car owner or mechanic)

f. Mini-Stock (driver, car owner or mechanic)

g. Stock Car (Northern California) (driver, car owner or mechanic)

NOTE: In the forgoing divisions, full fee is required for each additional membership in same name. Each membership expires on December 31, 1974.

4. MEMBERSHIP

a. NASCAR members are independent contractors and are neither agents, servants nor employees of NASCAR, and NASCAR members assume and take full responsibility for reporting and paying to the appropriate authorities all charges, premiums, and taxes, if any, due or payable on any funds NASCAR members may receive as a result of their participation in NASCAR sanctioned events, including but not limited to social security taxes, unemployment insurance taxes, compensation insurance, income taxes and withholding taxes.

b. Car owners are required to have seperate memberships for each division in which they compete.

c. Driver memberships in Winston Cup Grand National and other Grand National divisions valid for Grand National only.

d. Mechanic memberships in Grand National, Late Model Sportsman, and Modified divisions are interchangeable in those divisions.

e. Driver memberships in Late Model Sportsman and Modified division valid for those divisions only.

f. Driver and mechanic memberships in Limited Sportsman, Hobby, Mini-Stock and Stock Car divisions valid for those divisions only.

g. Application forms for a NASCAR membership and/or license may be obtained from and must be submitted to NASCAR Headquarters, which is solely responsible for issuing such memberships and licenses. Membership and/or license application forms must be fully executed, signed by applicant, and accompanied by the requisite funds. The mere acceptance of a NASCAR membership and/or application form and fee by a NASCAR official does not constitute the issuance of or approval by NASCAR of such an application for NASCAR membership. Applicants will be advised in writing by NASCAR Headquarters whether their application for membership and/or license has been approved by NASCAR Headquarters. (NOTE: Sec. 2 License Requirement).

h. NASCAR is dedicated to the highest degree of safety and sportsmanlike conduct in stock car automobile racing and all members are required to conduct themselves in such a manner as to promote this end.
