1974 NASCAR International Stock Car Racing Rule Book
Section 10 -- Inspections

The following rules shall govern inspections at all NASCAR sanctioned events.

1. The timing, method, and type of car inspection and the number of cars to be inspected at any NASCAR event shall be determined by the NASCAR official in charge of the event or by a NASCAR officer.

2. NASCAR reserves the right for inspection purposes to seal or impound cars competing in an event.

3. NASCAR assumes no responsibility for impounded cars.

4. It shall be the responsibility of the driver or car owner to teardown a car for inspection when requested to do so by the NASCAR official in charge of the event or by a NASCAR officer. Failure to comply will result in disqualification of driver and car.

5. At any event which calls for a mandatory inspection of cars after the event, any car taken from the racing premises without permission from the NASCAR official in charge of the event, or that is not taken immediately to the inspection station after receiving permission to leave the racing premises, will subject the driver and the car to disqualification unless it can be proven beyond any reasonable doubt that the violation was caused by circumstances over which the car owner or driver could not have any control.

6. NASCAR reserves the right to confiscate any part and/or equipment found during an inspection that does not meet NASCAR specifications set forth in these rules as they may from time to time be amended. Should the driver, owner or mechanic refuse to surrender the part or parts involved, he is subject to automatic disqualification. For such disqualification, the car owner and driver forfeit all the prize monies and points for the event.

7. NASCAR specifically reserves the right to inspect any car which had previously participated in an event not sanctioned by NASCAR to determine that it meets all safety standards required by NASCAR.

8. NASCAR may fine or take points away from driver and/or car owners when either uses parts and/or equipment which does not meet NASCAR specifications set forth in these rules as they may from time to time be amended.

9. NASCAR reserves the right to limit admittance to any area or garage in which inspections are being made; and the NASCAR official in charge of the event has the right to limit the attendance to only the NASCAR Inspectors and two mechanics assigned to handle the work necessary in preparing the car for the inspection.
