1974 NASCAR International Stock Car Racing Rule Book NASCAR Grand National Championship Division Section 20-13 -- Rear Axle

a. Rear axle ring and pinion may be any gear ratio.

b. Differentials optional. Quick change rear ends are permitted in Grand National divisions, except the Winston Cup division.

c. Full floating rear axle compulsory, but must not alter tread width or general appearance. Limited slip differential permitted. When limited slip differential is used, one wheel, when jacked up, must turn freely by hand for one full turn--360 degrees.

d. Differential oil coolers, approved by NASCAR, permitted.
