Section 20B-23 -- Tread Widths

a. Tread, front and rear: AMA specs apply plus or minus not over 3-inch tolerance on either side to allow for reinforcement of wheels and hubs, measured at center of tire, zero toe-in at spindle height, standard not offset. Steel spacers are permitted to utilize maximum allowable tread width. Spacers must be bolted or welded to brake drum or hub.

b. Listed below are the actual maximum tread widths permitted.

The listed tread width specifications do not apply to 1971 through 1972 full size and intermediate sedans, nor does it apply to the selected approved smaller sedans. These cars will only be permitted to compete with tread, front and rear: AMA specs apply plus or minus not over 1 1/2 inch tolerance on either side to allow for reinforcement of wheels and hubs, measured at center of tire, zero toe-in at spindle height. Steel spacers are permitted to utilize maximum allowable tread width. Spacers must be bolted or welded to brake drum or hub.

c. On Super-Speedways and Road Courses tread, front and rear: AMA specs apply plus or minus not over 1 1/2 inch tolerance on either side to allow for reinforcement of wheels and hubs, measured at center of tire, zero toe-in at spindle height. Steel spacers are permitted to utilize maximum allowable tread width. Spacers must be bolted or welded to brake drum or hub. "A" frames must have a stock appearance. Upper and lower "A" frames may be altered for safety and tire clearance. Lower "A" frames must be the same length and mount in the stock position. Left and right must agree. No offsets permitted.
