Section 20B-35 -- Tires

a. Any NASCAR-approved tire allowed provided it does not exceed maximum side wall measurement of 12.70 inches plus .15 tolerance at 60-pound pressure, mounted on 9 1/2 inch rim. Measurement must be made with new tire. No knobs or worn out tires allowed. No cross grooving allowed. No smooth tires permitted at start of any event.

b. Recaps allowed on 1/2 mile or shorter tracks.

c. Width of any recap tread cannot exceed width of original new tread for that tire and the maximum retread width is 11 inches. When retread tires are used, all four tires must be same width and tread design.

d. All cars qualified for any Late Model Sportsman race must start the race on the same make of tires used for qualifying.

NOTE: When make of tires is changed during a race, all four tires must be changed during one pit stop.

e. All four tires must be of same size as to actual measurement, and must be of same make and tread design.

NOTE: Should identification numbers, or serial numbers be defaced on any previously approved tire, this tire will be ruled ineligible for competition.

Explanation of qualifying tire rule:

When an official detects a change in the brand of tires before the start of the event, the competitor will be allowed to change the tires back to the original brand used in qualification and car will be permitted to start event at the rear of the field.

If car starts race on another brand of tires and is detected before payoff, car in violation will be disqualified.
