1974 NASCAR International Stock Car Racing Rule Book Late Model Sportsman Division Section 20B-37 -- Identification

a. Officially issued numbers must be at least eighteen inches high and neatly painted on both sides of the car, and on trunk lid (positioned in center of lid) and facing rear of car. A number 36 inches high must be painted on the roof, reading from the driver's side.

b. Numbers on car and division must correspond with car owner's registration card.

c. Block type numbers, as large as possible, must be on outer headlight and taillight covers.

d. Numerals indicating the cubic inch displacement of engine must be painted on both sides of hood in numerals at least eight inches high.

NOTE: At time of weighing, the engine displacement shown on hood cannot be less than the true engine displacement. (Temporary adhesive-backed weight placards will be permitted). A $25.00 fine will be assessed for any car displaying less displacement than the actual displacement at pre-race weighing. Any car having greater displacement than is shown on the hood when inspected at the completion of a race will be disqualified.

e. Late Model Sportsman cars will be registered by numbers on a state basis only. All numbers will be assigned from NASCAR Headquarters. Drivers will not receive NASCAR points if unauthorized numbers are used.

f. All decals or adhesive-backed emblems supplied by manufacturers for advertising or identification on race cars are limited in size to the area of a 32 square inch rectangle. Only decals of participating manufacturers will be permitted. Car sponsors' or owners' names are limited to six (6) inches in height. Slogans will not be permitted. Decal sizes will be determined by multiplying the full width and full length of any decal, regardless of the decal shape. NASCAR reserves the right to assign or restrict the display of decals, identification and advertising on race cars.
