a. Helmets must be full head coverage type and must meet the specifications set forth in Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 571, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 571.218. To be eligible for use in NASCAR competition, the manufacturer of any model helmet must furnish NASCAR with certification that the helmet in question has been tested according to FMVS standards.
