1974 NASCAR International Stock Car Racing Rule Book
Modified Division
Section 20C-15 -- Suspensions

a. Front end suspensions must be reinforced for safety. On Super-Speedways and Road Courses, Grand National type Ford front ends may be used, such as spindles, A-frames, steering arms, etc., and heavy duty spindles and bearings are mandatory.

b. Straight axle front suspension not recommended.

c. Minimum ground clearance for oil pan shall be 2" as determined by removing the left front wheel and resting brake drum on ground. (Use of any special device to obtain the minimum ground clearance will subject the car to disqualification because such device may become dislodged while car is in motion, thereby lowering the car below the approved ground clearance).

d. POSITIVELY NO MECHANICAL DEVICE ALLOWED IN ORDER FOR DRIVER TO SHIFT WEIGHT WHILE IN MOTION. NO HYDRAULIC WEIGHT SHIFTING DEVICES PERMITTED AT ANY TIME. ANY SCREW JACKS WHICH ARE IN THE INSIDE OF A CAR FOR WEIGHT ADJUSTING MUST HAVE A COVER OVER THE SCREW JACK AND MUST REMAIN SEALED DURING THE RUNNING OF A RACE.
