1974 NASCAR International Stock Car Racing Rule Book Modified Division Section 20C-17 -- Steering

a. Tie rods, drag links and component parts must be heavy duty.

b. Interchangeable pitman arms may be used.

c. Center-top of steering post must be padded with at least two inches of resilient material.

d. Racing type steering wheels allowed if approved by NASCAR.

e. Steering rod may be moved no further than center of race car and steering controls must be attached to left wheel. (Note: No right side steering permitted.)
